We are excited to announce the release of zkipster’s European Union Digital COVID Certificate checker. This new feature will enable event planners to verify and store their guests' EU COVID Certificates at the point of check-in, ensuring they are complying with COVID-19 policies. The feature also allows users to verify EU COVID Certificate equivalents, such as the NHS COVID Pass from the United Kingdom, or the Switzerland's COVID Certificate.

In detail, this release will allow users to:

  • Verify the validity of their attendees’ EU COVID Certificate at check-in

  • Check if guests have been recently tested for COVID-19 and if the result was negative

  • See their guests' vaccination status and how many doses they have had

  • Verify if guests have recently had COVID-19 and their recovery status

  • Store the certificate of event attendees for future reference

The certificate is being issued by local health authorities, such as hospitals or test centers, within the EU and works as digital proof that the certificate holder has either been vaccinated against COVID-19, received a negative test result or recovered from COVID-19. It contains a QR Code and digital signature to prevent falsification and allows verification by third parties.

Scanning your guests’ COVID Pass at check-in

With this new feature, users can activate the COVID-19 passport check at their event and choose to either read their attendees' certificates or to read and store the certificates for future reference.

Once the checker is activated, a 'COVID Certificate' icon will be displayed on the Guest Detail on the mobile app. Clicking on the icon will open up a scanner that can be used to scan the guests’ unique EU COVID Certificate QR code.

The details of the certificate then will be displayed, containing the information that has been linked to that specific guest’s COVID Pass by official health authorities.

The mobile app will show if the certificate presented by the guest is valid or not, how many vaccine doses the certificate holder has had, if they have had a COVID-19 test recently, or if the guest has recently been infected and recovered from COVID-19.

Users are able to either accept or reject the certificate, based on whether the information displayed matches the requirements of their event or not. Event planners can also choose to delete the certificate following verification or to store it if you need to use it for future reference.

Please note: users will only able to scan and verify the Travel NHS COVID Pass using the new zkipster COVID Certificate checker, not the Domestic NHS COVID Pass.

zkipster users can already enforce COVID-19 requirements by using the ‘Consent Form’ feature. It allows event planners to collect signed consent from their guests acknowledging that they are aware of certain event policies, or confirming they have been tested negative for COVID-19, for instance.
