This article shows how to configure the 'Response Changes' section of the Response Form or Consent Form settings, so you can cap or restrict guests from changing their previously submitted responses.

Please note: This configuration is applied to the form, not to the guest. This means that if you share two different forms with the same guest and you only configure one form to not allow resubmissions, the guest will still be able to edit the other form.

How to prevent any edits after submission

By default, any new response forms or consent forms have the 'Response Changes' section pre-selected as 'Allowed' with an unlimited number of resubmissions pre-defined (guests can update their responses any number of times).

If you would like to prevent guests from editing their submitted form, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the 'Response Changes' section

From the 'Settings' tab, click on the 'Form Settings' section and select 'Response Changes'.

  2. Disallow edits
Change the option from Allowed to Not allowed.

  3. Use the 'Response Cap Message' text box to communicate to your guests that they cannot edit their previously submitted responses.

We recommend providing an email address they should contact you in case they need to.

  4. Save Changes
Click on the 'Save Changes' button from the top right to save your changes. From now on, guests who have submitted this particular form will not be able to edit their responses.

Pro Tip: Use this when responses must be final (e.g., compliance-sensitive data).

How to allow a limited number of form resubmission

  1. Open your formSettingsForm settingsResponse changes.

  2. Select 'Allowed'.

  3. Set the cap
From the 'Maximum Response Resubmissions' dropdown menu, choose the number of edits the guest is allowed

    • Example: Set to 1 if you want to let a guest correct their submission once.

  4. Save.

Best practices

  • Communicate expectations: Add a short note in your form, such as “You can update this form once after submitting.”

  • Time your lock-down: If you expect changes early on, keep response changes set as Unlimited, then switch to Not allowed as your event date approaches.
