The ClearPass Certificate can be activated or deactivated when creating a new event or when editing the current settings of an existing event. This feature is available for both iOS and Android devices.

The feature allows users to:

  • Scan guest's ClearPass Certificate's QR Code

  • View guest's COVID-19 vaccination status

  • Approve or reject guest's ClearPass Certificate according to the event's policies

  • Store guest's ClearPass Certificates approval information for future reference

Please note: only Account Owners and users with permission to access the event settings can activate the ClearPass Certificate checker on the event. An internet connection is also required to validate the certificates.

How to activate and scan the ClearPass Certificate

1. Turn the 'Covid Certificate' toggle ON via the event settings and select if you want to save and store scanned certificates.

If you do not want to save and store the scanned certificates, do not select the 'Save and Store scanned COVID Certificates' option.

Please also note that saving vaccine records is only available for EU certificates but not with ClearPass. The only information being stored in zkipster is if the certificate is Approved/ Rejected, which is something the Event Host defines at the time of check-in.

2. Go to the zkipster mobile app, a 'COVID Certificate' icon will be displayed on the Guest Detail.

3. Click the 'COVID Certificate' icon to scan the guests’ ClearPass Certificate QR code. A pop up will display the guest vaccination status available in the ClearPass system.

4. 'Approve' or 'Reject' the certificate based on whether the information displayed matches the event's requirements.

How to view the certificates via the browser

Guest List overview screen

Click on the three bars 'Web View Options' icon located on the top left side in the Guest List tab. Select the option 'Covid Cert. Status' and click 'Save'. A new column will display the status as 'Approved' or 'Rejected' for each guest that had their certificate scanned by your team members:

Guest Profile

A timestamp of the approval or rejection will be displayed containing the username of the team member that performed the action and the date and time when it happened. The approval/rejection information will also be stored in the Guest Profile under the 'Covid Certificate' tab in the browser.

Event Report Export

The guests' ClearPass Certificate is also available on your post-event report spreadsheet, under the column 'Covid Certificate Status':

Pro Tip: zkipster users can also enforce COVID-19 requirements by using the ‘Consent Form’ feature. It allows event planners to collect signed consent from their guests acknowledging that they are aware of certain event policies, or confirming they have been tested negative for COVID-19, for instance. Learn more about Consent Forms here. Additionally, users can enable the Form Attachments feature so that guests can upload COVID-19 certificates and vaccination cards when submitting their RSVP to their event.

ClearPass does not provide a granular information on the user status. Their services just identify the person and show if their Covid vaccine status is valid on their systems or not. This feature enables the verification of the authenticity of ClearPass Certificates only. Learn more about how your guests can get the certificate and how it works on the ClearPass website.
