When you need this setting
This is the only setting in the Salesforce integration. It is optional for imports and for updating guests you imported from Salesforce.
It is required if you want to export guests who were created directly in zkipster rather than imported from Salesforce.
For example, you import a Campaign with 100 members. On the night, a walk-in guest is added at check-in, so the guest list now has 101 guests. Without this setting, you can update the 100 imported guests in Salesforce, but you cannot create the walk-in as a new Lead and Campaign Member.
Why zkipster needs a Lead field
When an export creates a new Lead in Salesforce, zkipster writes the zkipster ID of that guest into the Lead field you choose. zkipster only uses it at that moment, to match each new Lead to the right guest and add it to the Campaign as a Campaign Member.
After that, zkipster keeps the link to the guest through the Campaign Member, not through this field. The field is not meant for reporting.
Step 1: Choose or create the field in Salesforce
Ask your Salesforce admin to create a new, dedicated Text field on the Lead object, for example zkipster Guest ID. Do not reuse a field you already use for something else: zkipster writes the guest ID into this field on every Lead it creates, which would replace that field’s value on those Leads.
Create it as a Text field with a length of 18. It does not need to be marked as Unique or as an External ID. Number fields are not supported: only Text fields on the Lead object appear in the setting.
Please note: the connected Salesforce user needs edit access to this field. See Salesforce Activity Log and Troubleshooting Failed Exports if exports fail with a field access error.
Step 2: Select the field in zkipster
1. Go to Integration Hub, click the Salesforce card, then Configure integration.
2. Open the Settings tab.
3. Under zkipster Guest ID field, open the Salesforce Lead field dropdown and select the field. The list shows only the text fields on your Salesforce Lead object.
4. Click Save. The warning banner at the top of the page disappears.
Once saved, the Create new campaign members option becomes available when you export guests to Salesforce.
If the field is removed from Salesforce
When you open the export mapping, zkipster checks that the Lead field can still be used. If someone has deleted it, changed its API name or type, or removed the connected user’s edit access, you see a warning that Campaign Members cannot be created, with a link to Settings. Choose a new field and save to continue.
