In zkipster Events, you can compose and share digital passes for your guests using the Wallet Pass feature, allowing them to add the pass to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for quick, secure access on their mobile devices.

This creates a seamless, contactless guest experience by keeping essential event details easy to find and always up to date - helping you deliver a polished, modern guest journey.

How to Create a Wallet Pass

There are three ways to create a Wallet Pass:

  • From scratch,

  • Duplicate an existing pass from the same event,

  • Duplicate a pass from a different event.

All options are shown on the Wallet Pass dashboard, which you can access by clicking Wallet Pass in the left-hand menu.

To create a pass from scratch, click Create New, as shown in the screenshot above. This will open a pop-up prompting you to name the pass and specify the QR Code value you want embedded in it.

You can learn more about the available QR Code values here, but by default the 'Check-In ID' with the unique zkipster ID of your guest will be already selected - only change this if you want to issue QR Codes with your own custom values or for different purposes that are not check-in related.

After you enter the required information and click Create Pass, the pass will be created and you will be redirected to it.

How to Customise a Wallet Pass

Once you access the pass, the first screen shows you the Pass Analytics overview and the front of the pass preview. Click Edit Pass Template to customise your pass.

That will direct you to the Pass Composer, where you can customise your pass.

Here you can find the navigation bar, at the top centre of the screen, with the options to navigate between the front and back of the pass by clicking the corresponding section. From there it is also possible to access the ‘Features’ section, where you can further customize your pass (more information below).

Front of Pass

In the 'Front of Pass' section you can edit the design of the pass and configure the text fields that should be displayed.

Design Section

To customise the front of your pass, you must upload a logo (recommended size: 480 × 150 px or narrower; PNG, SVG, or JPG). You can also optionally:

  • Upload an icon* (recommended size: 150 × 150 px or narrower; PNG, SVG, or JPG)

  • Change the background color

  • Change the label color and value color (Apple Wallet only)

  • Upload a cover image (recommended size: 1125 × 294 px; PNG, SVG, or JPG)

  • Upload a Google Wallet cover image override (Google Wallet only)

  • Add a banner to guide users to the back of the pass

Front Fields Section

In the Front Fields section, you can type the information you want users to see on the front of the pass. By default, there are four fields, and you can add more if required. You can also use dynamic tags in these fields to display personalised information.

Back of the pass

From the back of the pass section, you can add:

  • Links;

  • Text fields.

Please note: zkipster automatically track link clicks, and add attribution link parameters that will be visible in your own analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).

Your guests can view the back of the pass by clicking on the 'i' or three dots icon, depending on the device:

Location Based Push Notifications

From the Features tab, you can configure your Wallet Pass to send push notifications to guests' mobile devices once they approach a certain location.

For example, you could use this feature to send a notification to your guests telling them to go to a specific Gate once they are close to the event venue.

The notification will be displayed on the locked screens of devices that are within 1,000 meters (approximately 0.6 miles) of the location you select.

To configure the location:

- Open the 'Features' tab;
- Click on 'Add Location';
- Search the address or select it on the map;

- Set up a 'Name' for the location you are selecting;
- Click on 'Set Location' to confirm.

Once you set up a location, you can also define a message that will be displayed in the push notification. Use the Preview screen on the right side to view how the message will look like on the guest's device:

Pro Tip: You can add multiple Location Based Messages for the same pass.

Preview tool

Before sending your campaign to your guests, you can preview how the pass will render on Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.

Use the navigation bar to switch between the front and back of the pass, and use the device toggle below to switch between Apple and Google views.

You can also generate a QR code that links to the pass (the guest journey) by clicking the small device icon. Additionally, the yellow icon allows you to fill out the fields with text so you can preview your pass as if you were a guest:

How to Duplicate a Pass

To duplicate a pass from the same event, find it in the list of passes in the center of the page and click the Duplicate icon at the end of the row. This will open a pop-up window prompting you to name the new pass.

After you enter the required information and click Duplicate Pass, the pass will be created and you will be redirected to it.

To duplicate a pass from a different event, click Duplicate From Event, as shown in the first screenshot above. This will open a pop-up window prompting you to name the new pass and select which pass (and from which event) you want to duplicate.
